I'm sure most of you didn't know that there's a hidden hero on the latest map of Dota 6.57b AI, Dota 6.57b AIplus Revision 2. The hero is very cool and i'm sure you will love to play it. The hero name is Incohatus the Formless. The name said it all, he is formless and take a form of a whisp. Nothing special there. But, the interesting part is his skills...

Look at the picture, his first skill is from Broodmother and his second skill is Diabolic Edict from Lehsrac. Can you guess it now? .... (waiting for your guess ^_^)

Yup, his first skill is able to take ally/enemy first skill as his skill. His second skill is take ally/enemy second skill. Wow, imagine Meat Hook combined with Chronosphere, cool!! Curious on how to use this hero? Read on!

To be able to use him, you must play with the Dota 6.57b AIplus Revision 2 map (Revision 1 is not included him yet). And then, in the beginning of the game, type -fun followed by -tryhero. You will have Incohatus the Formless as your hero instantly. And then, have fun! :D I'm sure you didn't need a guide for a hero like him :) Enjoy playing Incohatus the Formless!

Dota 6.57b - Dota-Allstars 6.57b is Now Stable Map

I though it will be several versions again until we have another stable map, but heck, now Dota 6.57b is a stable one. I think this is good news, because the AI maker now can make Dota 6.57b AI without any hesitation. The competitive Dota also can use the new stable map too with Kunkka and Windrunner.

And yeah, there's another meaning of this. Usually after a stable version, IceFrog will add some new contents or some major changes. Well, i hope it will happen too on Dota 6.58. Let's just see what will happen :)

Well, looks like the main improvement will be on performance issue. FYI, the Dota 6.57b lag is reduced comparing to the Dota 6.56. I think IceFrog want to after another Stable Map, maybe it will be on Dota 6.58 or Dota 6.59. Anyway, anybody want to be a beta tester? Update 1 (14 Nov 2008)
Anyway, quick update, finished most of the CoP stuff. Still some bug fixes from 6.57 I need to get to, as well as that odd command line bug with 10 players (though I might punt that to Rev. 2). I'll be gone for the weekend so I'll try to have something out before I leave.

Ok then, even thought he said it for 6.57, i think we will get our map this weekend :)

Update 2 (19 Nov 2008)
Been busy as of late, but I've updated most of the 6.57 content. I'm not too sure what was done in 6.57b, and there are still a few bugs which I haven't been able to address, including the long command bug a few addressed in 6.57. I'll probably just go ahead and release something soon anyway, at least to see if the Focus Fire fix works for people.

Seems a good news to me :)

I think the Dota 6.57b AIplus won't be as long as before because Dota 6.57b only contain critical bugs fix. I will update this post if there's any news about it and will place the link if the map is ready. Until then, let's just try the new map and hope for the good news from BMP :)

SMM Grand National Dota Tournament (SGNDT) Final 2008

SMM Grand National Dota Tournament (SGNDT) Final 2008. Ok, beforehand this is my first post about competitive Dota, so maybe i need some feedback from you :) As the title said, another Dota-Allstars competition with large sum of money as the prize is coming up, SMM Grand National Dota Tournament (SGNDT). The tournament will be held in Berjaya Times Square, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia from 21st - 23rd November 2008 (Friday - Sunday). Even though the tournament held in Malaysia, many other teams invited, like Indonesia Fnatic, Philippines SG.Mineski, Singapore Impreza and even Russian Federation - Rush3d!

Finalized ruleset

Game Format:

Game Version: Dota 6.57b

Competition Method: 5 vs. 5
Tournament Structure: BO1 in group stage with 8 groups. First and second place in groups reaches top 16. Top 16 onwards will be BO1 double elimination until the Grand Finals. Grand Finals BO3 with 1 game advantage for WB winner.
Match Length: Until a winner is decided
Match Winner: The player who completely destroys the opponent’s Ancient or if the opponent surrenders.

Coin Toss

The match will begin with a coin toss and winner of the coin toss will get to choose:
(a) Sentinel/Scourge side of the map or
(b) Draft order

The side that losses in the coin toss can choose the latter.

Hero drafting:

The team that starts off the drafting will have 1min 30secs to decide on the 1st hero, after which next team also gets 1min 30secs to choose their 1st hero. This process is repeated until all the heros are selected.

Team that fail to pick their hero within 1min 30secs, their turn will be skipped.

Teams who failed to pick their heroes will be given 30 seconds at the end of the drafting session to draft their remaining heroes. After the time limit has been reached, the undrafted hero slot will be replaced with "Random".

If any team is found to have any hero which is selected differently from what was decided earlier, the referee has to be informed immediately. Team which made the mistake of selecting the wrong heroes after game starts will be penalised (Warning or Game Loss).

In any situation when any team did not select their heroes according to what they have decided, referee will use the heroes’ selection list recorded to verify if that team is guilty of making the mistake. Then referee award warning or game loss if the team is found guilty of making the wrong selection.

Game Mode: Extended League Mode. (-Ap mode will be typed in-game)

1. Both teams will be allowed to take out up to 4 heroes from the pool of heroes before drafting starts. This will work based on a 1-1-1-1-1-1-1-1 format. Teams can choose to stop taking out heroes before the maximum 4 heroes limit and their turn to take out the heroes will be void.

1. Team one will take out / skip the chance : 1 hero
2. Team two will take out / skip the chance : 1 hero
3. Team one will take out / skip the chance : 1 hero
4. Team two will take out / skip the chance : 1 hero
5. Team one will take out / skip the chance : 1 hero
6. Team two will take out / skip the chance : 1 hero
7. Team one will take out / skip the chance : 1 hero
8. Team two will take out / skip the chance : 1 hero

A maximum of (but may not up to) 8 heroes can be taken out before the drafting session happens. After the taking out draft finishes , teams will proceed to pick the heroes for the game.

2. Picking heroes: 1-2-2-2-2-1

1. Team one will pick: 1 hero
2. Team two will pick: 2 heroes
3. Team one will pick: 2 heroes
4. Team two will pick: 2 heroes
5. Team one will pick: 2 heroes
6. Team two will pick: 1 hero

Game Play

1. Sharing:

. Sharing of item is allowed as long as the game permits.
. It is not allow to suicide to pass Rapier intentionally.
. Sharing control is allowed

2. Item Limitations :
. No item is restricted.

3. Backdoor
In light of exploits from the latest version (6.56) of the game, the administration decides to DISALLOW BACKDOOR for this tournament.

4. Hero Limitations
. No hero is restricted in the draft.

Detail reference on the administration for the above rule.

1. Towers are not to be hit without creep support unless it is deniable by the opponent. All other structures are not to be backdoored without creep support although it is deniable. If you reached the building with creeps you are though allowed to continue attacking it even if the creeps are killed.

2. If you reached the opponents base together with allied creeps, you may attack all buildings, and you do not have to cancel your attack if your creeps have been killed.

3. When a backdoor occurs, the marshals will judge based on the intentions of the offender and the severity of the offence. When deemed to be intentional, a warning or a default game loss will be given out.

A team with 3 accumulated warnings in a game will be given a default game loss.

4. Winning: Completely destroy the tree or the throne of your opponent or your opponent concedes the game

Rules and Regulations:

General Rule:

· Registration form

There will only be 2 reserve slots for the tournament. Teams can only use the players written in the registration form. If the reserve slot has not been written, the name can be fill in later and cannot be altered after that.

Tournament Rule:

(*Note: Teams that broke the following rules and regulation would be disqualified. This decision would be made by the Chief Marshal)

1: Gamers must report to the respective game zone 10 minutes before the match. Participants who are late for more than 10 minutes will be disqualified.

2: Abusive behavior towards the staff will result with a permanent ban in which no foul language can be used to the opponents.

3: The Game Marshal has the authority to take disciplinary actions, as from the moment he enters the field of play until he leaves the field of play after the final whistle.

4: Once fixtures are fixed, neither delayed nor postponement will be allowed.

5: Dress Code: Minimum dress code should be T-shirts & Jeans/Pants with covered shoes. The following will not be allowed into the tournament area: 1) Slippers 2) Torn Jeans 3) Shorts 4) Singlet

Disconnections:

1. Teams are persuaded to save their games frequently during a match in order to compensate for disconnects.

2. Disconnect before a hero has been killed (First Blood): match restart\

3. Disconnect after a hero has been killed: remake from the save game.

4. The teams must save game right after first blood

5. To account for the various situations of drops that may arise, the final decision will be decided by the marshal in charge after a detailed discussion with the team leaders involved using the below rules as reference.

6. If team 1 have killed 5+ heroes more than team 2 during the period of the last save game and the disconnection, then the disconnect is in the favor of team 1.
For example:
- At the time of the save game the score is 35-35
- At the time of the disconnection the score is 42-37 for team 1
- Since team 1 have killed 5+ heroes more than team 2, team 1 may now chose whether to continue the match or remake from the save game.

7. A tower counts for 3 kills when calculating this, an Aegis counts for ½ a kill rounding down, a rax counts for 5 kills.

8. If neither team is in advantage then an admin should be consulted, unless teams can agree to a decision by themselves.

9. After a remake all players have to pick the same heroes as before, and must go to the same starting lane. On initial creep contact, the players may change lane.

10. It is allowed to use a disconnected hero, but it is not allowed to give his items to other players. The items may either stay on the disconnected hero, or be sold so the money is dispersed among the remaining players.

Abuses & Exploitation

1. A player is allowed to play for 1 team for the entire duration of the tournament. Any substitutes for a team must be approved by a senior marshal before the game starts.

2. Pause Abuse (Warning or Game Loss):
From the point after hero selection process is completed, pausing without any valid reason is disallowed.

3. Bugs Exploitation (Warning , Game Loss or Disqualification):
No Exploitation of any known old or new bug discovered during play. Explanations like "exploiting/activating the bug unknowingly", "we had no idea this bug existed" or similar excuses will not be entertained. Participants/Teams are expected to know what these are.

Examples of Bugs:
* The latest Obsidian Destroyer bug.
* Activating the enemies team glyph of fortification is forbidden.(e.g. with a crow)
* Creep pulling is considered a tactic and therefore is NOT considered a bug.
* Earthshaker Fissure is not allowed to block the entrance and exit of bases.

4. Penalties Awarded:
Warning: After warning is given games goes on. If two warnings are accumulated then the team will be ejected from the tournament upon receiving the two warning.
Game Loss: Game loss given to a team mean the team loses the current game no matter what is the result of that game. A win would be awarded to opponent instead.

5. No foul language throughout the tournament. (Warning or Game Loss or Disqualification)

6. Player could immediately inform the Game Marshal if he/she finds out that a member of the match has violated a rule. Immediate actions will be taken by the game marshal.

7. Any complaints from teams that signed the confirmation slip would not be entertained, any complaints must be done before so.

8. We seek everyone’s cooperation to the rules and hope that by implying the rules to the league, everyone can have a fair game and most importantly, have greater fun.

miniDota , Mini Version of Dota-Allstars Download

miniDota, Mini Version of Dota-Allstars download. Have you ever heard it before? I just read the forums today and see a thread about this miniDota ^__^ Well, if you played Dota-Allstars before, you must be already familiar with this map game-play. The major different is on the map size and hero choice. Curious? Here is the complete information about this map :)


MiniDota


miniDotA is designed and intended as a small simulation of the DotA Allstars game. The map is made available in two variants, a closed one containing 22 heroes (including 7 custom heroes and 15 from the original DotA, with kind permission from IceFrog), and an open, editable map containing only the 7 custom heroes. The closed map can be used for small DotA-esque games with 2 to 6 players. Since the playable map area is much smaller than DotA proper it is very action intensive as heroes are constantly near each other. The open map is made available for two purposes: those that are keen to learn how to make a map like DotA, and those that would like to implement their hero/item ideas into a playable map. (In principle this also allows balance-testing of hero ideas under realistic conditions.)

* 15 DotA heroes. Only non-complex heroes were implemented which were approved of by IceFrog. These heroes are: (Sven) Rogueknight, Slithereen Guard, Troll Warlord, Lightning Revenant, Dragon Knight, Death Prophet, (Lina) Slayer, Queen of Pain, Anti-Mage, Phantom Assassin, Omniknight, Bone Fletcher, Bounty Hunter, N'aix (old variant), Dwarven Sniper.
* 7 custom heroes. Several original ideas were implemented, some of these are somewhat exotic and as such are not necessarily suitable for DotA (but they do fit in here well enough). The heroes are described in detail further down. To summarise: Child of Loki, Helix, Manifestation, Mindflayer, Pandaren Lifeshaper, Ivory Retainer, Gorelord.
* Miniature DotA map. A very small version of DotA, including most elements typical to DotA: Creep waves, towers, items (with recipes), forest shops.
* Continous Player-vs-Player battles. Since the map is very small heroes face each other constantly. The map isn't big enough to support heroes running off into forests and farming neutral creeps.
* Random taverns. Each team possesses one tavern that is randomly filled with heroes from the available set of heroes. The algorithm is implemented to allow for any number of heroes to be randomly and evenly assigned to the available tavern space, thus 2 or 200 potential heroes would be distributed randomly and evenly into the 22 available spaces in the two taverns.

Dota 6.56 Bug / Dota 6.56 Exploits

dota allstars 6.55b loading screen Images Dota 6.56 Bug / Dota 6.56 Exploits, in case you haven't know, there's some bugs/exploits on this current map. The bug is pretty major, because it affects a team.

The bug is on Obsidian Destroyer with Powertreads. When you already got your Powertreads, take your Essence Aura skill immediately. Your running out of mana? Just switch your shoes! Change it from STR Treads into INT/AGI Treads and so on. The Powertreads type changes can triggers the Essence Aura, so you can have a free mana after several times changing your treads. Not only that, if your friends have Powertreads, they can also do the same tricks. Just go near Obsidian Destroyer and switch the Treads.

The other is on Puck with Phase Boots. I haven't try this yet, but i heard there's some glitches in this combination. Maybe i will try it on Dota 6.56 AIplus later. Have you ever try it or there's another bug? Share it here and maybe you can put that on Dota 6.57 wish list so it will be fixed soon :)

Dota 6.57 AI Plus - Dota-Allstars 6.57 AI Plus Map Download Section

Even though there's still a lot of bugs ^_^ And now Dota 6.57 already went live. So as usual, this post will provide links and update of the Dota 6.57 AI progress :)

Update 1 (12 Nov 2008)
6.57 seems straightforward enough. Looks like I might have to manually redo all the regions again, which is pain, but not difficult.

Okay. Thanks guys, I'll see if I can have something up as soon as tomorrow.

Also, an update on that command line thing: you'll note that long commands only fail with 10 players (works fine with 9). It seems to be hanging on the Scoreboard generation routine, which you can see when you try to input a long command with 10 players. The scoreboard will appear in the upper right corner (says "DotA Allstars", regardless of the mode), and if you open it, you'll see it's only half done. There's probably a loop that keeps running and stops the script from proceeding, which halts the system from detecting the specified game modes. I need to look at it more (I only glanced briefly at it last night before going to bed).

Also, fixed KOTL learning attribute bonuses and Crystal Maiden now learns Brilliance Aura after Frost Nova and Frostbite (instead of at levels 22-25).

Well, expect a quick update from BMP :)

Meh, looks like there's more to the Circle of Power changes than I had anticipated. I doubt I'll be done by tomorrow.

I think the Dota 6.57 AIplus won't be as long as before because Dota 6.57 major changes is only on bug fixes. I will update this post if there's any news about it and will place the link if the map is ready. Until then, let's just try the new map and hope for the good news from BMP :)

Dota-Allstars Video: Who's the Killer? (The Answer Revealed)

I just found out this video today on Dota-Allstars forums. The video is giving me the creeps.. When you watch this, make sure your speaker is on, you will know what i mean ^_^ Anyway, this video is asking who's the killer. Watch the murder scene carefully! Every single details can lead you to the answer. Wow, maybe i watch Meitantei Conan too much lol :)



Already watch it? I'm sure you want to repeat the murder scene at least twice. Now, give your best shot. When i'm posting this, the answer is not yet confirmed. But some people already give some shots. So while waiting for Dota 6.56 AI come out, happy guessing! :D

Magic Stick, Dust of Appearance, Phase Boot and Glyph of Fortification

Dota-Allstars 6.55 give us several new items: Magic Stick, Dust of Appearance, Phase Boots and Glyph of Fortification. But until now, i have rarely seen the optimal use of those items. Only several people can use those items perfectly. Maybe you can share experience about those items. Here's my  thought about the new items:

Magic Stick
Honestly, in my first sight, i think this items is sucks. The 12 Health and 12 Mana is so small comparing to the spell damage. The only condition i found it usefull is when we are laning against heroes with low/cheap mana cost spell like Bristle Back, Phantom Assassin. But i changed my mind after i read this from DA forums:

People don't remember that it's only 210g. Buy it from a sideshop when you have the money.

It's useful when facing a dual lane heroes with active spells(or a soloing serious spammer like zeus and bristle).
Everytime PA blinks or slows, you get a charge. Everytime Phantom lancer goes invis, you get a charge. Everytime windrunner even farts, you get a charge. Every now and then you get a charge on your lane and earlygame 15mana is a lot. You don't have to wait till it's full 10 charges, charges are just as effective when used right away.

Also it's a good for radaring ganks and junglers.
1) You are running through woods and suddenly you get a charge. No allies on minimap, you know there's a hero jungling. Profit, for only 210g.
2) You are laning down and miss is called for mirana, pudge, puck etc. and you get a charge. You know something is coming, hug the tower, get called a maphacker, maybe get a kill from towerdivers, profit, for 210g.

Also you wouldn't believe how many times that 210g item has saved me while I'm escaping.
In order to catch you, enemies throw slows or use other chasing abilities, which give you charges, and you can take another hit again.

Also for 210g you get more information on lane. You know when that Booty Hunter went invis in fog, and you know when that Kunkka used his aoeslowstunnuke and you have to run, and you know when Windrunner casted Powershot and you have to dodge, you won't miss the Bara's close range charge, Rexx's axes won't go unnoticed, you got the idea.

Also, do remember that it still costs 210g.
When it saves you once or gives you kill, it has already paid itself back.
210g only means that it's not supposed to be bought at the fountain in beginning of the game, but minutes later from sideshops.

Dust of Appearance
Ok, i think it's obvious when to use this items. I used it when i'm gonna target invisible/wind walk user heroes. But still, Sentry Ward is better if you're gonna have team battle because of the short duration of this dust (only 12 seconds).

Phase Boots
Yet another items for a chaser.. and for armor lacking heroes. But still, you now must choose between Treads, BoT or this new sneaker. From my point of views, this items is fit on Pudge (if you cannot afford BoT), Viper, Bloodseeker and other chaser. Some said that this items create some glitches on Puck, anybody can confirm?

Glyph of Fortification
This item/tool is created to replace the Town of Portal massive armor buff on targeted building. The main problem is, everybody can use this while the cooldown is pretty long (6 minutes). Which means your team mates probably will ruins your timing on use this Glyph, especially on Pubs. This things looks simple, but when you're having critical moment, bad timing on using the Glyph will ruin your game.

Dota 6.57 - Dota-Allstars 6.57, the Next Balanced Map(?)

dota allstars 6.56 AIPlus loading screen Images Dota 6.57 - Dota-Allstars 6.57 will be the next map after Dota-Allstars 6.56, but until now i haven't found any leaks about Dota-Allstars 6.57 or Dota 6.57 Beta T_T (any leaked information people? Feel free to share it here :p) So, let's just put our wish list on the future map to make the next version more balanced ^_^ Especially after the massive changes, i think there wil be a lot feedbacks from the people.

IceFrog changes is meant to make the game finish faster and more exciting. The massive armor bonus removal from Town Portal is intended to make the game faster. The new placement of the Tree if Life is to make the game more balance. And items are added to make the ganking more appealed. Scroll of Town Portal is now placed on the sideshop make the ganker's job more easily. But, that's only the IceFrog intention. What about the reality? Does those changes really work as intended? Or maybe there's still more changes/balances needed? Feel free to say your wish list of Dota 6.57 - Dota-Allstars 6.57 here :)
